Triple B (Lumberyard & Home Improvement)
Nestled right here in Shelbyville, Illinois, Triple B Home Center represents far more than just a place to pick up a box of nails or a two-by-four. For three decades, this locally owned and operated pillar has served as the literal and figurative framing for how the community builds, repairs, and sustains itself.
Three Decades of Local Roots
Operating continuously for 30 years, Triple B has woven itself into the generational fabric of Shelby County.
It isn’t a faceless corporate box store dropping into a market for regional profit; it is a homegrown fixture whose history runs parallel to the families, builders, and homesteaders who rely on it day in and day out.
Equipment Rental Center
Understanding that not every tool needs to be a permanent purchase, the center maintains a robust equipment rental fleet. From heavy power equipment to specialty utility trailers, they give local residents the heavy-duty machinery required for major property overhauls without the capital investment.
The Drive-Through Lumberyard Experience
Unlike modern retail centers that treat heavy building materials as an afterthought, Triple B features a classic, fully stocked, drive-through lumberyard. Contractors and DIY homeowners can pull right up to stacked framing lumber, sheeting, drywall, and posts, turning what is usually a grueling loading chore into an efficient, streamlined process.
A True Regional Hub
While anchored heavily by its Cedar Street location right here in Shelbyville, the business operates as a networked ecosystem—including specialized contractor support yards nearby. This footprint gives local builders access to heavy inventory without having to drive out of the county, keeping regional projects moving smoothly.
Beyond Hardware: Specialty Services
Triple B goes well beyond standard retail by offering hands-on, practical services that big-box stores abandoned long ago. From precise paint-matching and key duplication to propane refilling, glass and screen repair, and even specialized concrete floor grinding, they act as problem-solvers for the neighborhood.
The Pro and DIY Equilibrium
Finding the balance between serving a professional framing contractor on a tight deadline and a Saturday-morning homeowner tackling a backyard deck project is an art form. Triple B bridges that gap seamlessly, offering industrial-grade stock alongside accessible guidance for everyday household repairs.
Small-Town Expertise on Hand
The real proprietary asset of Triple B isn’t sitting on a shelf—it’s the accumulated knowledge of the staff. When local residents walk through the doors with an obscure plumbing fitting or a unique fastener, they are met with experienced personnel who know local construction styles and actually understand how to solve the issue
