The Ultimate Local Gathering Spot: Located right on East Main Street, it functions as an informal morning meeting place where local farmers, workers, and residents kick off their day, catch up on community news, and share stories over coffee.
Lisa’s Café started 10 years ago and has been going strong ever since. Lisa’s Café is located at 260 E. Main, in Shelbyville, just south of the Shelby County Courthouse.
Before Lisa bought the business, it was known as Sally’s on the Square. Before that, it was known as the Court House Inn. Lisa purchased the property from Martha Mars who ran the Court House Inn. The history of the building goes back many years.
Lisa Robson lived in Yorkville, Illinois until she moved to Shelbyville 22 years ago. Her parents, who retired in Shelbyville, liked to camp and take their boat on Lake Shelbyville. Lisa spent many days at the lake with them and enjoyed her time there.
Lisa has two children, both boys. Her oldest son, Ronnie Graf, is her business partner and works at Lisa’s Café. Her younger son is an engineer who lives and works in S. Carolina.
Lisa’s Café is a family restaurant. They serve their customers by providing appetizing American-style meals at an affordable price. Breakfast and lunch entrees, along with delicious homemade desserts, are available every day. They also offer a kid’s menu. Weekly specials are offered and usually changed every Sunday.
Lisa has made many friends during the 10 years she has owned the business. Return customers seem like family to Lisa and her staff. Many of them, locals and visitors, come back frequently, bringing family and friends.
Lisa appreciates the reliability of her staff. Many of them have been with her for several years. Today, she employs 6 full-time employees and a few who fill in occasionally. Full-time staff includes Lisa, Ronnie Graf, Hayley Donald, Debbie Barton, Jeff Stiefel, and Kirsten Smith.
Lisa and her staff start their business day at 5 am and close at 2 pm. The café is open seven days a week. No reservations are required.
