Because Heritage Woods of Sullivan is an apartment-style assisted living community rather than a traditional hospital or strict nursing home, family and friends are generally welcome to visit at any time, mirroring a normal residential apartment building.
However, general office and administrative hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
If you are planning a visit, want to check on specific guidelines for evening hours, or wish to join a resident for a meal, it is always a good idea to call them directly at 217-728-4300.
What types of accommodation is available
Heritage Woods of Sullivan offers private residential apartments specifically designed for senior assisted living.
The primary accommodation options include:
Studio Apartments: Private, compact living spaces featuring a modern kitchenette, a private bathroom, and a built-in emergency response system.
One-Bedroom Apartments: Slightly larger private apartment layouts that also include a separate living space, a kitchenette, a private bath, and safety features.
Every apartment comes unfurnished, allowing residents to personalize and decorate their space with their own furniture, belongings, and mementos to make it feel like home. Utilities, maintenance, and housekeeping are included as part of the community arrangement.
So why Heritage Woods?
People choose Heritage Woods of Sullivan because it strikes a unique balance that traditional nursing homes and standard apartment complexes miss.
The main reasons seniors and their families choose it come down to:
Freedom Without the Burden of Maintenance: Residents keep their privacy, autonomy, and private apartment, but wave goodbye to cooking three daily meals, cleaning, home repairs, and dealing with utility bills. Everything is rolled into a predictable, manageable lifestyle.
“Just Enough” Help: Many seniors don’t need heavy, round-the-clock medical confinement, but they do benefit from a gentle safety net. Having 24-hour staff availability, medication management, and emergency call systems provides total peace of mind for both the resident and their children.
Built-In Community and Companymanship: Loneliness is one of the hardest parts of aging at home alone. Heritage Woods places a heavy emphasis on social life, offering a ready-made community of peers, daily group activities, shared dining, and events that keep people active and connected.
Staying Close to Home: For lifelong residents of the Moultrie County and central Illinois area, choosing Heritage Woods means they don’t have to uproot their lives, leave the region, or move away from the familiar local doctors, friends, and family members they love.
