Brenda Has been at the center of Economic Development for many years, Now Retired, she is providing a unique insight in how shelbyville has grown from strength to strength and will share excerpts of her new book that she is completing. An exciting story of a family of European migrants during the 1800’s and their journey to end up here at the end of the national trail, as it was called back then.

The National Trail, officially called the National Road or Cumberland Road, was America’s first federally funded highway. Authorized by Congress in 1806 and started in 1811, it ran 620 miles from Cumberland, Maryland, to its western terminus in Vandalia, Illinois, which was the state capital at the time
