Re: Shelbyville Bicentennial Planning Committee, C/O: Shelbyville Area Community Foundation, PO Box 435, Shelbyville, IL 62565

Dear friends, businesses, and organizations, thank you for reading our letter and following the QR code.

We have made this page available to answer more questions regarding the celebrations and donations and to provide more details.

Shelby County and Shelbyville will celebrate their bicentennial year starting January 23, 2027—marking two hundred years since Shelby County was formed and Shelbyville was established as the county seat. To commemorate this historic milestone, local citizens have formed planning committees to organize events throughout the upcoming year, bringing our community together to celebrate our rich heritage.

Our celebration features two main collaborative efforts:

  • Shelbyville Multi-Class Reunion Committee: We are inviting SHS alumni and community members to Forest Park on September 24th and 25th for a weekend of reconnecting. Activities will include an opening ceremony, food and merchandise vendors, decades music by Sounds of All Kindz, class tables with memorabilia displays and yearbooks, a car show, and children’s games.
  • Community Bicentennial Celebration Committee: This group is planning a large-scale community event featuring an opening ceremony, a parade with prizes, live musical performances, historical presentations, photo slideshows, art events, games, and local vendor booths.
